R. Travis Koch

Colonel (ret.) R. Travis Koch is the Founder and Head of School of West Christian Prep, an all-boys Classical Christian School.  He was born in Houston, TX but grew up mostly on the east coast where he came to know and accept the Gospel through Young Life.

 In addition to being a 1995 graduate of the US Air Force Academy, Travis has two master’s degrees in management and strategic leadership.  Col Koch served over 24 years in the US Air Force as an F-15C and F-22 instructor pilot, accumulating over 2,000 flight hours and dozens of combat missions.  He commanded the 43d Fighter Squadron, the USAF’s only F-22 Schoolhouse, and most recently the 3d Operations Group, consisting of 563 Airmen and 59 aircraft valued over $9B.  He has consulted for two defense industry firms and has been a featured guest speaker for numerous organizations.  He most recently served as the Director of Leadership at the George and Barbara Bush Center for Scholars and Leaders at Houston Christian High School, where he was responsible for a multi-curricula leadership program.

Travis is married to Amanda Kares Koch of Houston, Texas, and resides here with their two sons, John (20) and Andy (12).  Col Koch has been a Young Life leader, a guest pastor, and a boys lacrosse coach from pee-wee to collegiate levels.

Dr. Stephen Klugewicz

Dr. Stephen M. Klugewicz has long experience educating young people, having been a classroom teacher in private schools for seven years, as well as the Headmaster of a Christian Classical school in suburban Philadelphia.

 He also served as Director of Education at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, and in the same role at the Bill of Rights Institute in Arlington, Virginia. A graduate of an all-boys junior high/high school in Washington, D.C. run by Benedictine monks, Dr. Klugewicz knows firsthand the blessings and benefits of an-male learning environment… and also possesses a working knowledge of Latin as a result.

Dr. Klugewicz holds a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Alabama, with expertise in the eras of the Founding and Early Republic. He is the co-editor of History, on Proper Principles: Essays in Honor of Forrest McDonald and Founders and the Constitution: In Their Own Words. He is also the former Executive Director of the Collegiate Network at ISI (Delaware), Director of Development at Aristoi Classical Academy (Katy), and Director of Academic Affairs at the Free Enterprise Institute (Houston).

Dr. Klugewicz and his family attend St. Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church in Katy. His wife, Emily, is Dean of the Core Curriculum and Professor of Literature at Houston Christian University. They have a son, who will be attending West Christian Prep, and a young daughter. Dr. Klugewicz is a devotee of the “Great Music”, particularly the works of Beethoven, Berlioz, Mozart, Sibelius, and Springsteen.

Dr. Roosevelt Wilson

Dr. Roosevelt Wilson has been a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ since the early 90s, when the Lord saved him while he was serving as a Marine Corps Drill Instructor in San Diego, California. As a believer, he has served the Lord in various roles, including as an elder, preacher, and Bible study teacher.

Dr. Wilson has spent the last twenty years working in both private and public education after serving in the Marine Corps. He holds a doctorate in educational leadership, a master’s degree in elementary education, an advanced graduate degree in educational leadership, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology. His roles in education have included being a teacher (grades 1, 3, 4, 5, and 7), assistant principal, principal, and head of school in districts in Texas and South Carolina. As the first Head of School, Dr. Wilson led the opening of Harbor Christian Academy (HCA), a classical Christian school mainly serving underserved families in Houston’s Fifth Ward, and he directed HCA for its first five years.

Dr. Wilson and his wife, Octavia, who is also an educator, moved to Spring, TX, in June 2006. They have been married for over three decades and are blessed to have four adult children.
